Cataloging and Housekeeping

The catalog is coming along. It has to be cross-referenced to have any real value, so setting up the rules and structure is a time-consuming process. Thought I’d explain how the numbers work: each image has a unique number based on where it is currently located, followed the original media format, followed by whether it is black and white or color, followed by current owner of the image. Here are some examples: 1.3_N_BW_FFT

  • 1.3 = Third image from contact sheet 1
  • N = negative
  • BW = black and white
  • FFT = I have this image

Some of the negatives were color, but we contacted them to black and white paper for expediency. When you see an image that has a “C” in the number, that is a color image. Example: 81.1_N_C_FFT. I’ve updated many images with image numbers and locations or names, as I’ve been given them. So, take a minute to check out the older posts to see the updates. And please let me know any further updates or corrections.

Cheers, Sioban
